Alright, so much for getting back to action. Tested positive for Covid last weekend instead and spend the week in isolation and mostly in bed. So not a lot to report.
Still tuned into the call with the Galoy team, which was super interesting. They presented new designs for adding a USD account into their wallet (meaning there are 2 accounts now, one for BTC, one for USD).

Same for the JoinMarket call. The group reviewed the UI and discussed user feedback and next steps. There are some really interesting UX problems to be solved related to the ambiguities around privacy.

I tweeted about the new Contacts page, which led to interesting discussion around BIP 39 (recovery phrases) and BIP 47 (re-usable payment codes). Both are tagged as “Unanimously Discourage for implementation”, without much rationale as to why. Considering that BIP 39 is basically an established standard now, and a handful of wallets implement BIP 47, it’s difficult to know what to make of the statement of discouragement. After some digging and discussion, I was able to get a decent idea of the problems with each (which is not the same as understanding why the use is generally discouraged). May need to document these, to save others time in the future.
That’s it for now. Covid sucks. Hope you don’t get it. Have a good weekend.
