What an interesting week it’s been.
The Shock the Web hackathon wrapped up with presentations
and awards on Monday. It’s definitely proven that building applications on Lightning is really easy now. Still has it’s complexities naturally, but you don’t need to be a protocol developer anymore. I can imagine a ton of experiments and projects flourishing on this foundation.
There’s also lots of work
being done in implementing the design guide re-org changes. Really looking forward to seeing that all live.
The biggest thing is that I’m currently in Portugal and wrapped up practicing my presentation about Open Design tomorrow at the Offscript
conference. Going to share my journey into open-source and crypto via Monero, what is going on in the Bitcoin Design Community, lead into more more general thoughts on open design, and then open the floor for hopefully many interesting conversations. Interestingly, a good amount of people are already familiar with Bitcoin Design, which I did not expect. There’s also a lot of interest in figuring out how to practice open design, as well as the relationship of open-source and commercial interests. The organizers really did an excellent job at bringing together a diverse and interesting group of people. Going to be interesting tomorrow.
And that’s it for now. Have a good weekend.
