Another calm week, which was nice to get a few things out of the way.
More validation this week that accessibility is just not on people’s radars. From posting on Reddit and Twitter, there’s super little response, or people mix it up with usability. From experience, there seem to be several types of tasks (across design/tech) that are important to get right, but no-one wants to deal with them. A good approach seems to be to just consistently do them on the side like a good habit, and otherwise not make a big deal. But I do hope we can create a bit more awareness and momentum with the new, still work-in-progress, accessibility page (preview
). We’ll probably get a bunch of things wrong on that first iteration, but doing things poorly is the first step to doing things well.
