More planning stuff, but who wants to hear that. Next week will be fun. The Designathon, Legends of Lightning, TABConf, Bitcoin Amsterdam, all are kicking off on Wednesday. Various calls and Twitter Spaces are lined up, projects and people ready to go. I am looking forward to it.

Jonas put together this awesome video about the Saving Satoshi project - to build a fun interactive experience around learning bitcoin coding, in the context of a fictitious time-traveling story based on the history of bitcoin. This should be good one.

I also made a short video about the Taro project. Big new things coming to bitcoin & lightning. Let’s get a head start and ensure this power will be yielded with care (… and let’s also just play with things a bit).

AI art, apps for kids, inheritance, lightning node automation, and privacy are other topics people will be working on. I wish I could participate in all of them, but there’s no time and it would probably be obnoxious. Let’s see what happens and where explorations will lead us. I’m also curious to see how cross-pollination with the other events will pan out.
And just for fun, some interactive states of the header nav for the Bitcoin Core App (V2: Wallet).
It is somehow weirdly satisfying to detail these types of things out. Must be a designer thing. Good though, as it makes implementation so much easier when these have all been discussed and considered beforehand.
For the Designathon, I decided to only work in Penpot, to give this open-source design tool some solid attention. We chatted with the team about organizing a workshop, but they are super swamped at the moment with a huge influx of users not happy with the Figma acquisition by Adobe. I hope both succeed. Open-source can build different things that the corporate world can’t or won’t, and vice versa. Having a healthy ecosystem with great alternatives should be good for everyone.
It doesn’t happen too often that so many events kick off at the same time, and I hope builders take advantage of them. If you’re participating, especially if you’re coming to Amsterdam, let’s meet up.
Have a good weekend,
🥳🪩🎊
